Spira creates replacements for petroleum colorants and animal proteins for food, cosmetic and textile companies using CRISPR-edited algae and by leveraging partnerships with farmers to scale production of their algae ingredients. Their work employs 100s of farmers in developing countries, absorbs 1000s of tons of CO2 and has displaced petrochemical and animal ingredients from the supply chain of dozens of companies.
